about 2 week ago my fuel filter clogged. i changed it and it ran fine but when i went to start it after sitting for a wile and letting it get cold it cranks for like 10 to 15 sec. before it fires. when its warm it fires fine. now my filter is getting clogged again. i work at a scrap yard and get free gas out of the junk cars and i know there some dirt in there wit the gas. i had this truck for 2 years now and probable half of the gas i ran in it was from work. i think i got dirt and crap stuck to the sock on the puck up in the tank and i know i gotta drop the tank and clean it out. would my hard start have anything to do with this fuel problem or not. and the plugs have about 50k on them and i had my mechanic look at them 2 months ago and said they were fine so i dont think they r the problem and i got no CEL or pending codes.
I would say yes. Stop using the "free gas" and keep changing the fuel filter on a regular basis until it clears up on the hard starting problem. Good luck!
I agree with the other reply but I would drop the tank,,drain and flush it out,,put a new sock on and replace the in-line filter.
And stop running the bad gas!!!
ok i dropped the tank and the strainer was clogged solid. the replacement one from advance was wrong so i gotta find the right one. but when dropping the tank i broke a sensor that was in the rear of the tank. its black, has a 3pin connector. wat is it? hears a pic of it after it broke.
i finely got it back together and it runs great!!! that part that i broke was a fuel pressure transducer, thats what the dealer called it. they even had them in stock and they charge me almost 100 bucks for it.
