Headlight Relay

I would like to hook up my KC fog lights into the headlight relay, where in the heck is it? I will also be throwing in the optional switch in line, but where is this thing at?

I looked through the MY99 manual and couldn't find a headlight relay. Only a fuse for each side's low, and they're in the Power Distribution box under the hood. You may want to setup you're own relay, which gets it power from the light itself.

I have only seen reference to this relay in my haynes manual. I have the day lights, so I don't want to trip my fog lights off of that. Thank you though, it would have worked if not for the day light.

I looked high and low Pat and all I could come up with was the DRL relay. That is located in the power dist box under the hood.

Edit: I just looked at the wiring diagram and the onlly relays that DTR relays.

Hmmm... that is a dilemma. What if you disable the DRL?

I wish I had read this before I took off to vote, I would of scanned what I was looking at. I am not sure how I am going to hook into this then., Might just go ahead and fuse it, and stick a secondary relay in it. like the other lights.

I really do not like the DRL, until night time, then I normally run with those on instead of my headlights. With as much traffic/street lights/ect. There isnt normally a need for the headlights to even be on. So the DRL are great for around town at night. Now, what would be fun is to install a light sensor in circuit........

OR... What if... you put the relay after the switch. So the KC's are off until you want them on, BUT are controlled by the low beams (or high beams). But if you wanted more highs, I think you'd be ok because they're not controlled by the DRL... hmmm

My 2002 came equipped with one of these and Auto Lights (not DRL). So it would be possible, but now you'd need another relay *sigh*

Well, I have everything here in front of me to start this, now, it is just a matter of which way to go.. thinking about putting the relay in circuit with the headlight switch. As Jim suggested. Any body got wire colors in front of them?? For the switch on?

I hooked up my big Procomp lights to a relay that was activated by the high beam wire. I also have a master switch that disables them entirely !!

Good Morning all, well, just looked in the manual, my mistake, the relay is only for the day time running lights. I wish I had brought the book home with me..Well, I will most like get back into this later, but right now, the lights look great. And, with LED on the switch, I should be bright enopugh to turn them onand off only when needed..

Thanks for all of the suggestions and help!!
