i have the 4.2
Always something, isn't it? Let me know what you find out, I'm curious.

When I was a little boy my dad owned a truck identical to yours, only gold. It had the 4.2L as well. I remember two things; it sounded like a diesel, which I thought was the coolest thing in the world, and the motor took a lot of abuse and kept on truckin'.

Then if you can place them close enough to the window trim, you can slip the wires down the windshield trim, then come through the door boot, go under the hood or slip around the weather seal to get the wires inside.
Thanks ReAX. I'm still debating on it.

I know it's a great truck. If these trucks can take my dad's abuse, they're pretty tough.

What type of sound are you wanting out of your truck? Loud? Or a low growl? Dual tips or single? After going through what I just did, I'd go with a single in / single out muffler next time with maybe a Dynomax turbo muffler.

I would say go with the 50 series Flowmaster, but I haven't heard a 50 series on a V6 on YouTube that I liked. The same is said for any Magnaflow. The 40 and 44 series are what I've always liked. I think if I were to swap out my muffler I'd look for something besides Flowmaster and Magnaflow, though.

Check this 4.2L out; YouTube - F150 4.2L Flowmaster exhaust

And here's a more realistic set up for your truck, considering this one still has his stock cats; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41JX5E8Z-sQ&NR=1
I think it sounds good.

i like the low growl sound.. but i don't want it so loud that you can hear me 1/2 mile away.

You like the glass pack one? Not very many people like glass packs. I like them, personally. They're cheap and they work. $30 will get you a 32'' or so 2.25'' glass pack. You can go for something like that and just re-use your stock tailpipe; if you want the look of duals, take your truck to a muffler shop. After all, you'll have saved a lot of money on the glass pack.

I think I hi-jacked my own thread!

Even better. Plus, you'll have more room for special exhaust set ups. How are you going to do it? Single in / out, stock location? Or what?

Make sure you get a sound clip!

I actually don't know the year and make of your car so I can't give you the names and prices. Yet, I could suggest a site for you. Try coollights.com. You might find something you like there.
