What is excessive idle??

i personally wouldn't let my truck idle that long. especially if i lived in a place that gets as cold as it does where you are. diesel engines run colder than gassers and idling that long in that cold of temperatures can really cause your engines temp to drop. what i do is i leave the switch on all the time, then when i get out of the truck to run into the convenience store or something i just hit the e-brake on my way out of the cab. usually just enough to get the light to turn on.
