GM's US sales plunge 45 pct., Ford down 30 pct.; industry could have worst month in 25 years
DETROIT (AP) -- General Motors' October U.S. sales plunged 45 percent and Ford's dropped 30 percent, as low consumer confidence and tight credit combined to scare customers away from showrooms.
The results released Monday -- along with a 23 percent drop at Toyota and a 25 percent decline at Honda -- are strong indications that sales for the industry as a whole may perhaps be the worst in 25 years.
I was reading an article earlier today that just mentioned the Ford numbers. I am glad to see they are in the same boat as everyone else. I don't like to see them all down, but if they are all down together, at least Ford isn't dropping like a stone.
I'd say it's getting to people holding on to their cars for longer before selling em. With 30k on the mustang and 100k on the X, mine are just getting broken in I would have been all over the 09 F150 if it had the 6.2 or the diesel... would be just what i needed, the little bit of extra oomph...
