I just saw in a mag- BFG has a new tire called the Krawler. Where do I get them, how big can I get em, how much are they, how fast can you get them to my door. My truck has GOOD clearance on 36's, I can probably fit 38's, and it would really break my heart to have to lift it again(sarcasm!). Also, as I am about to buy the wife a 72 F250 with lift, now I need to know twice as bad. Also, I found another tire I like just as much. Has anyone seen the Michelin XML's? They are a military tire with a "G" load range! Very, very mean looking tire. If you haven't seen them, checkout pg. 123 in the 4wheel&off-road November 2002 issue. Anyone with info, please post!!!
I am not certain on this, but the impression I got on the article was that the Krawler was being 'researched' by BFG on the Ultimate Adventure trip. I don't think they are public release yet. Those Michelins are nice, aren't they? I love that Super Duty they built up.
Hey guys, just found out last night, tha guy who was gonna sell me the 72 F250 backed out of the deal. That SUCKS! Anyway, I did find an 86 Bronco (302) in real nice shape for similar money. I had been looking for a 3/4 or 1 ton-I like the beefier parts-so needless to say I'm still disappointed. However, I did have a brain storm. I have an 83 parts truck, so why not put the 3/4 ton running gear under the bronco? I heard another guy say, "If you can't buy what you want, build it!" I know it's almost a direct bolt in swap, so why not? What do you guys think.
P.S. I know this post probably should have went under suspension, but as I mentioned the 72 here, and got replies, I figured I'd just post here.
every thing should bolt up, but im not sure about the front suspension, the f250 TTB front is leaf spring while the f150 is coil sprung. im not sure if there are holes already in the frame to bolt up the spring hangers or not, if not just take some measurements and get them welded on.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Nov-02 AT 07:14 AM (EST)]crawlers aint available to the public yet....they are a rock crawl based tire with very soft tread to stick to slickrock.
I'm not goimg to put the leafs under the bronco, just the axles. If the bronco has the same gear ratio, then I won't even have to change the whole front-end, just from the spindle out. I've checked this out, it's all the same from the spindle in, so the front would be a piece of cake. Being limited on funds, I want to be able to run the same wheel/tire combo as I do on my 83. They are chrome spoke steels with 36x12.50x16.5 Hummmer tires. I have had great luck with these goodyear military tires, and I pick them up for $35 to $40 apiece with about 80 to 90 % tread. That's about as cheap as your gonna get for a large tire I'd say. Anyway, if anyone knows about those michelins, please post as I know they are available in a 325/85R16, being about a 38.7x12.9x16, I'm 90% sure I can clear 'em, and I know they would look great on my old beast.
