For my first rig, I bought a 1997 f250 with a 351w and 5 speed transmission. I will be building it over the winter in my garage with my dad. When I first got it I gave it a nice wax but of course I had to play around in the logging roads by my house before I did anything to it!
After I spent about three hours cleaning it I started by taking the box and bumpers off, along with the trailer hitch. The box is a little rough around the edges but will patch up nice. Since that stage I haven't done much because of other things but I did pick up a Dana 60 with a matching rear with 4.10 gears to get rid of the ttb and change the gearing from 3.55s in my old axles to the ones with 4.10s. I also ordered my tires, 39x13.5 r17 Krawlers!
I am curious to see how you plan to power those 39s and how you are going to go about patching up the rotten bed
The gearing change will help some, but I'm planning on doing a cummins swap in a year or two so 39s won't be a problem then. And as far as the box goes the sides are still good so I'm going to cut out the rotten parts of the floor and replace them.
Didn't get much done this weekend, did pick up a brand new passenger side fender for $50 though!
..Did a couple little things like taking my hood and grille off.
And got my seat fixed.... The cable for the mechanism inside that latches the back of the seat was broke so bought a cheap seat out a junk yard truck for $20 to replace the cable
Making sure it worked.. And it does have the cover and stuff on it now just not when I took the pictures
... Also found out my battery was bought in May 2004
Jealous of your Dana 60's. I have the TB 50. Rebuilt it completely so I may have to wait a while before it has issues.
Thanks, and yeah I wanted to just completely get rid of the Dana 50, especially with bigger tires on it.

Not sure about the fender, just found it on kijiji so picked it up instead of spending $130 on one from my local shop... but I will definitely be buying a car quest battery when I need a new one. I've never had one issue with the battery and it's over 11 years old! Definitely seems like good quality!

Ok, just a FYI.
A Ford fender is about $250 and on the inside edge where the hood meets you will see the logo.
Haven't posted in a while, but have got quite a bit done! Got the front axle underneath the truck!
Took the hubs out of the Dana 50 since I need locking hubs in the 60.
Unbolted the steering
Everything on jack stands
The old 50 after everything was unbolted and we dropped it onto the floor
All the old Dana 50 parts
New axle ready to slide in! Used the rollers we use to move the sleds around the garage to make it easier to slide it under the truck.
Once the 60 was bolted on, we bolted on my dads 37's, and I took some photos!
Not sure if I'm going to paint the axles or not, I would like too but might not be in the cards right at the moment:/
A little edit I made!
...and then tonight I finished taking off the passenger side fender with the help of my dad
Need to get some clips and bolts in order to put the new one on
Also took of the headlight bezel and the metal piece underneath of it off
Whoever painted it before I bought it decided to paint over a mosquito...
And when the Woodstove is going might as well roast some marshmallows!! Lol
I would like to say thanks to anyone who has taken the time to read through my build progress!!
