I have a F250 rebuilt 360 (1969) and want to swap to a carb with automatic choke. Can I hook it to the S (stator) terminal on the back of the alternator? Or is there a better way to wire the choke?
When i popped my new auto-choke carb on, I wired it into the fuse block. Using a testlamp i found a power source that was switchable with the ignition key. It was a simple 10 minute task.Just fed the wire through the firewall and connected it.
you have to make sure the circuit you tap has a full 12 volts while cranking, otherwise the choke won't stay fully closed. The alternator was where i connected mine.
Yeah its 12 volts, my instructions said not to connect to alt, or i think it did. That would have been alot easier to do then messing with the firewall.
