1992 f-150 4.9l. great spark, had tank full of water, drained, replaced filter, filled with fresh gas, new plugs and fuel pressure regulator. fires great on starting fluid. pressure test is 57psi with key on, turn over engine it stays around 57psi, doesnt apear to bleed down. need help, ready to pull my hair out.
How did the tank get full of water? Was the truck submerged?
You have pretty well ruled out everything except fuel, and with pressure on the fuel rail it looks like the injectors. It is possible if the thruck sat a long time the injectors are stuck, but doubful that all of them would be stuck.
Probably not getting the signal to fire the injectors. I'm not sure if this quick ground would show up on a meter, might need a scope. Someone else may know for sure.
If the truck was submerged, you could have lost the computer, or at the very least, the ground for the computer. Any wiring harness connection that got wet would also be a suspect. Bad grounds can drive ya nuts on these trucks, by causing all sorts of mysterious things to happen. I suggest cleaning the computer ground and if that doesn't help, try a different computer.
Good Luck Frank
