I just got an 01 crew cab 4x4 with the 5.4. The previous owner had the engine washed for sale and when they washed the motor, water got in the coils which now creates a very annoying skip. Will the coils need replacing or will the moisture evapurate and the problem be solved?
Second problem is when you engage 4x4 it makes a horrible clicking sound. Sounds like bad u joints. I've only ever owned solid front axle trucks so I don't know a lot about IFS but I'm assuming the CV axles are going bad. Preciate any help.
For the engine miss, take it to Autozone and have the codes pulled. Which ever cyl has the misfire, replace that coil. The 4x4 problem, does the 4x4 light on the dash come on when putting it into 4x4. Is it elec 4x4 or does it have manual??
the 4x4 light does not blink and it's an electronic switch to engage. the engine is not giving me a check engine code, soI don't think there will be any OBD II codes.
