Tube type tires

I have a '66 F100 camper special. It has split rims, with tube style tires. I have been told I can put tubless tires on this. Is that correct?

My opinion, get rid off the split rims and get regular rims.
Most tire places won't even touch the split rims anymore and if they do, they charge extra.
