Haynes manual has detailed wiring diagrams. The dash switch is a simple center-off DPDT polarity reversing circuit. (I know I might as well be speaking in some alien tongue for some folks) The tailgate keyswitch is actually two separate switches. I can tell you that if you are simply replacing the switch, the process should be unplug the old one and swap in the new one.

Are you replacing the switch because it doesn't work? I did the same thing on my 91 a couple months ago when my window would not go up or down using the key. I found out after spending the money that it was a connector that was bad behind the left tail light that a wire corroded. There was nothng wrong with the switch afterall.

If your window goes up & down with the dash switch but not the tailgate switch it's probably the tailgate switch. If it does anything else, I would hold off on replacing it until you know for sure it's the problem. The "tailgate closed" switch has caused people a lot of grief over the years as Steve says.
