I have a 78 F150 with a sliding rear window. One of the sliding panels is broken. I am wondering if there is a way to remove just that panel without removing the frame and rubber seal from the truck. Thanks for any advice.
You might be better off replacing the whole window. I have a 79 with a rear slider and the felt strip that the windows slide on is gone and i have tried to find a replacement felt with no luck.Everyone i have talked to from parts houses to specialty shops say the same thing they can't find parts just the whole window.:-X23
Hey my 78 F-150 had the same problem, after two months of haveing a pizza box duck taped there i got a picece of plexiglass and cut it to fit and then it just popped in, it was flexable enough to fit in. it works great and its a lot better then trying to replace the whoe rear window.
Hmmm.... I guess that would explain why the other panel is plexiglass. Thanks for the input. I will keep my eyes open for a new window but untill then plexiglass it is.
You might want to check with an auto glass shop about replacement glass for your slider, they should know how to replace it too.
It has been my experiance that "most" of the aftermarket sliding windows on the market leak, and/or rattle, so my thought would be to repair the factory unit if possible.
Also, if anyone can fix or replace the felt in these windows they can.
