I have an 01 f250 SD crew. I'm having an issue that when I go around a corner, to straighten back up I can't just let the wheel go and have it do it automatically. I have to turn the wheel by hand and it seems kinda tight, then right before the wheel gets straight I feel a jerk in the wheel like it pops back into place.
The odd thing is that this is a somewhat intermittent problem. I have had my upper and lower ball joints replaced, as well as a new steering box. Everyone around here that I have described the problem to gets stumped.
When did you have your ball joints replaced? Did you install Moog's by any chance? I had moogs installed I have a similar experience. They were just too tight. The popping makes we wonder though. Tights is tight not popping.
My steering wheels would not return to center by its self, I have to bring it back by hand...a real chore on the highway at 65.
