Help

Looking for aluminum valve covers to fit my 78 F150 460 Eng. , This truck came with factory a/c the problem is the heater box but i want to keep it . Any suggestions where to find Aluminum covers that are stock height or do i just go with a set of chrome ??

here in the National Parts Depot catalog they don't even have aluminum vavle covers.

one pair of 72-79 460, chrome pair.......$44.95

one pair of 72-79 460, EFI, "Ford Racing", chrome steel.......$72.95

it's your choice. if you can find aluminum for cheaper it might be worth it. good luck!

Summit Racing has them in stock height, with the Summit logo for under $100. I'm sure there are more out there.

rwlacks,dont worry about the clearance issue on your heater box/air cond/460 combo i have the same setup on both my trucks 1 has mt covers the other one has holly and they both fit looks like they wont but there is room the only issue i had was with the cruise i had to raise the bracket up about an inch to clear the cover[if you have] but just used longer bolts with spacers hope this helps regurds joe

It sure looks close has anyone else used {non-stock} in this application I dont want to waste money or time

Make some. Casting alluminium is quite simple and safe if you pay attention to what you are doing. Can be done in your own back yard with few speciaty tools, honestly the tools you need you adapt from regualar pliars and pipe. If you can weld alittle you can cast. Do a search online about metal casting. Its way cool when you pop the hood and have a few one-off pieces you cast yourself.
