1995 ranger gear shift stuck

My 1995 ranger 4-cyl, 5-spd gear shift is stuck in 4th gear. What could be the problem/fix?

Just get a BFH and give it a slam ha ha. I don't think these trannies have linkage as such. I believe the shifter goes right into the top of the tranny. Some others will be buy that may have some advice, as for me, I'm lost. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Sounds like the 3-4 shifter rail is stuck. You should be able to remove the top of the transmission (shere the shift lever goes into it) and see if you can move the rails. If you have a manual, check it out on the procedure to to do this.
