it wont start

well i have a 1991 e350 van with the 7.3l in it. i just recently changed out all of the glow plugs for beru, as you know to acess the glow plugs the fuel lines must be removed. well the glow plugs went in fine as did all the lines. when i had everything apart i changed the fuel filters also, one big one under cab and the one under the hood, the only problem is that the one i got for under the hood wasnt identical, it looked the same just didn't have the remove able base, still had a water sensor port tho. so installed everything and no fire. i cracked all the lines and started letting the air out. here i am after about 3 weeks and a million hours of cranking and still no fire and i still have air in the system, i don't no were to look. is there really just that much air in the system from removing the lines? or is it leaking from some were, and would the fuel filter be causing this? the truck ran fine before changed the glow plugs and filters. by the way the glow plug circuit is working perfectly. so where should i start im completle lost and refuse to turn that motor over untill i have an idea on what to do.

Is the fuel filter full? When I changed my filter, I filled it full of atf and stuck it back on.

Hopefully, you filled the filters prior to their installation. It sure saves on cranking. Dont crank too long on the starter - they overheat and cook internally. Make sure the o ring seals are on the filters too. The only draw you would have is from the lift pump, after that it is pressure and should show up as a leak.
Try cracking a few fuel lines loose to make sure you are getting fuel delivery to the injectors. When you see the fuel at the cracked lines, just snug them up and tighten them after it starts.
You should also hear the relay working on the glow plugs. Give them a couple recycle times to make sure the cylinders are warm or plug in the block heater for a while prior to lift off. That also saves the starter.
You dont want to use starting fluid !! It burns out the plugs and may also lift the heads if the glow plugs are operational.

You say there is a filter under the cab? Is this before the lift pump? If so I feel air is getting sucked in there.

thanks for the replys but they were of no help I have been repeating those steps for 3 weeks. I have cracked the lines half a million times, the filters were full im not an idiot. the fuel line going to the injector pump has a full flow of fuel. but when the fuel comes out of the invdvidual lines it is only a small drip of fuel when each cylinder comes around.

Are the fuel lines orginal (If they are they will be painted "grey"), the liner in them may be coming apart and clogging

i dont think its that ether because when i crank the truck over with all the lines off the injector pump only a small drip comes out of each hole on the pump side also. how much pressure should i have here? my dad seems to think it could have something to do with the wires that run into the pump and what they connect to, he says that is how the diesel motor is turn off, and he seems to think that it possible could never be getting the signal to turn on could that be true?

You shouldn't be getting any fuel when there is not 12v going to the shutoff solenoid, but if you want to check just to make sure, You should be getting 12v to the RED/LT Green (I think that is the right color for 91 yr model) wire on the back of the injection with the key in the on position (This should also see 12 v during cranking).

You could do a test by running a test wire from the positve terminal of the battery straight to this location (fuel shutoff solenoid) to see if it will start this way, but have someone there with you, incase you need to remove this wire really quick.
