What is it worth

I hope this thread is not in the wrong section.

Unfortunately I am forced to sell my 1988 F250 XLT Lariet, 7.3 Liter, 5-Speed Manual 4X4 truck.

I don't have room for it and I can't afford to have it fixed.

Its needing a new clutch and flywheel, 2 batteries, and some e-brake work (it sticks). It has new glow plugs, glow plug controller, within 10,000 or so miles a new alternator, positive power cable. Also have like new a $1200 set of traction snow tires. In appearance its an obvious work truck with bucket seats and the bed is dented up with it painted some in the bed to avoid rust.

My thoughts are that its worth about $3500 but whats it really worth. I need to sell it but at a fair price.

Thanks,

Steven C.

Not sure what they go for out there, around here that would be about what someone would be asking.
With fuel prices, truck prices are dropping though.

Try listing it in the classifieds here on FTE.

i live in spokane and i would have to say i would go get a set of used tires thrown on it and put the good ones on craigslist or keep them around but it sounds like 3500 would be fair

I do have a set of 35" X 12.5" X 16" (or 16.5", I forget) that are worn down (street tires now since most of the lugs are gone).

Thanks for the replies.

I don't want to rain on your parade but..... I live in Western Oregon and watch Craig's List almost every day, all over the state. I bought my '94 in LaGrande, my '86 in Portland and my Powerstroke in McMinnville, all off of Craig's List. So I feel I have a pretty good idea of what stuff SELLS for in this state anyway.
You'd be lucky to get $3500 if everything was perfect. This state has been hit hard by the economy and IDIs are dog-meat around here, everyone wants Cummins, Powerstroke or Duramax.
Honestly you'll be LUCKY to get $1500. Non-runing/driving vehicles are exceptionally hard to sell in my experience.
Just as a comparison I paid:
$3950 for my '94 in really good shape, but with a lot of miles, it's kinda hard to find a factory turbo CrewCab 5-spd. so i stepped up to the plate.
$500 for my '86 but it was pretty beat, ran and drove though.
$2000 for the '97 Powerstroke, the guy started at somewhere around $3500 and I watched it for months but didn't really care. Then it dropped to $2200 and piqued my interest. I was looking for another '93-'94 IDI turbo CrewCab for my wife with an auto when I came across it and ended up paying $2K. It has a few small problems and the beds kinda beat but all-in-all it's nice, it was a STEAL!

I'm not trying to P1$$ you off but you asked for a realistic value and I think I'm in a unique position to give it to you. Obviously you can put whatever you'd like to on it and maybe you'll get lucky.

Thanks. From that I'll probably just put the 35" tires on it and try at first try it at $1500 since I've put a bit into it. Sell the Nice Snow Tires separately since Winters Coming.

That sounds like a smart idea, you won't get any more with the snow tires so why give them away.
