Model year question
So my VIN, according to this site's decoder, sez that my truck was built in Oct of 68. So my question is this....is it a 68? or a 69 model built in 68, like you can buy 09's in the fall of 08. Purely academic, you understand.

September 1970 equals 1971 year model.

Since the usual new vehicle introductions begin in September of the previous year, any vehicle made from August thru December is the next years model.
However...
Ford is famous (or in-famous...depending how you look at it) for making exceptions:
1965 Mustang introduced 4/23/1964.
1969 Econoline introduced February 1968.
1969 Continental Mark III introduced March 1968.
1970 Maverick introduced June 1969.
1983 Ranger introduced March 1982.
