rear spring question

I've got an '87 F250 with the four leaf rear springs. I've been thinking about changing the rear to an OEM five leaf spring in order to get a little better ride with my slide-in camper. My experience, though, with changing rear springs has been a taste of hell, a terrible job, and I dread the thought of doing it again. What do you think about the add-on helper springs that I see advertised several places? I'm especially interested in any of your experiences with the bolt-on leaf type.

Any advice will be appreciated--

Meck

rear spring question

I've never thought it was a big deal - I've changed mine for basically the same reason & I consider it an easy swap.

What you could do is buy a full length add-a-leaf (around $100 or less) and put it in your current leaf pack. You can take the leaf pack apart w/o removing the main leaf from the frame mounts (sometimes a MAJOR pain). I don't know about those helpers. I question the effectiveness of some of the cheaper ones.
