NEW MEMBER Introduction Thread (NO TECH QUESTIONS)
Hello intro from Shad
Hello All,
I'm Shad from the UK, I've been looking to start a pick up project for many years and finally took the plunge. I'm selling my Harley Bobber to finance the change in direction and while completely new to this I am still excited.
I have bought a 1951 Ford F1, its solid enough and all original even with the OE Flat head V8. Its currently a bare shell but runs and drives with the manual three on the tree. It only needs some minor welding to the floor then making my own.
I have some plans but really I'm on here for inspiration and hopefully learn from all of your experience, both good and bad.
So I may pick up on some old threads and ask a few questions here and there, but I plan to put my build thread up (as I have done in the past for many bike builds I have done). Then maybe I can help others too.
(Sorry this posted in wrong forum, great start eh!!)

Newbie: started with fords in 1948 when my dad bought a "real" pickup and gave me his 1930 model A coupe with rumble seat converted to small cargo area. Pretty lucky 10 year old, eh? Of course it didn't run, so I trouble shot ignition system and started driving on farm. Latest is 1958 F-100 fully restored stock and victim of engine/cab fire.
Let the games begin!!

Just signed up. Lurked for a bit.
Have a new 2017 F250 Diesel 4wd SuperCrew Platinum.
Just finished a 10 day, 2600mi trip towing a 3300lb boat around the west (CA -> OR -> ID -> MT -> NV -> CA. Averaged about 13mpg, pushed a lot of head wind and dealt with a good snow storm in MT. Roughly 4500mi on truck after the trip.
Boat followed us home as well as it always has. 80mph speed limits in ID, MT and NV are a bit fast IMO to tow, so we followed along at 75...
Had a 1990 Ranger SuperCab 4Lv6 (stock), 4wd (0 to 145k then sold in 06, trips all over the US, and a lot of dirt roads and 4wd trails).
Had a '97 F150 SuperCab 4wd (4.6Lv8) (250k to 273k then sold in 07)
Had a '88 Escort GT; wife bought it in '90 IIRC, sold it in '03 running strong (and after a round trip CA to VA and back, after 5yrs running all over)
Had a '07 F150 Lariat SuperCrew 4wd 5.4L; 0 miles to 88k; 2017 traded up for the new F250...
Grew up in Gramps' powder blue '69 F260 4wd Longbed, std cab - hunted, camped, travelled in that one a lot, cousin has it now, Sunday rig.
I've looked at the other trucks by other makers... feel dirty when I do... my fords have been good to me.
