Almost raced tonight.....

Rolling down the highway 65-70 and a D-max rolls up next to me and hammers the throttle. I was rolling in my tow tune just thinking about the building supplies I was going to pick up so I don't even think about playing with him but then he hammers the throttle and bit of smoke rolled THEN TIRES STARTED SQUEALING!!! The guys was going the same speed as me and broken his rear tires loose at 70 MPH on dry pavement

I was impressed! I decided it would be best to not even flinch though as I would get my rear end handed to me!

We both got off at the exit (end of the road) so I had him roll down his window to verify my ears heard what they heard. He said yes it will break loose up to 60MPH. I can vouch it will break them a little faster than that even.

Too bad they are still JUNK!

i had the same thing with a 07 or 08 cummins sunday. We went back and forth laying into it for about a truck lenght. i realized real quick i better not race once i realized he was chipped even though i have stage 2s. its just not fair these newer trucks can make a ton of power with a chip. I do think I impressed him that an OBS powerstroke was hanging with him. He rolled his window down and gave an approving nod.

Tim, there's a Dmax around here doing the same thing. I've had 3 different people tell me about him. I'm just waiting to hunt him down. My guess is the truck is already in about 20 different pieces. That much hp requires alot of time, money and maintenance. Most people who drive them like that on the road, are lacking at least one of those ingredients, if not more.

There's a lot of High-HP Duramaxes out there but they're breakin' A LOT! By that I mean MUCH and OFTEN!
They have to replace about everything IN their engine to get them to last any time at all.
They look a lot like a 426 Hemi inside: great for a gasser not so great for a diesel.
I've seen pictures of two broken cranks and one in person.
I don't know about you guys but I have yet to see a "two piece" Intl./Navistar or Cummins crank. A couple of bent rods in the IHs but they were hydralock problems.
If I want aluminum heads I'll buy a V.W.

Look for tj's post about JB Weld on aisle 3 I think it still has the pics. It was Brians son's truck IIRC running 101 pounds boost.

Not sure what year. It wasn't brand new. Few years old. He told me it had a programmer. I think he said it was a PPE.

That is one bad programmer. A friend of mine has that programmer on his 04.5 D-max and is making 454.7HP at the wheels. The only other mods are the exhaust and the intake we installed. It however does not break the tires loose at 60. It is hard to do that with 40" tires, but it does do one heck of a burn-out!

I hate to say it but I got my but handed to me this weekend by a duraturd too. I dont feel that bad because my truck is mostly stock (superchip sucks) It was from a 40mph roll and he sure didnt spin them. I think he has the Edge tunner not sure though.

oh, I'd love to race anyone who can haze tires at 60 MPH.
if were going at a rolling start.
He spins and you take off.

Think logically about it. If he cannot hook up, how does he go forward as fast as you?
He'll just give you the loser flyby when he gets the chance.

Man, if i had the money. .. . ... .
