Center Cap Removal

How do you remove your center caps without damaging the slot for removal or the wheel itself? The dealership obviously does not care, nor do they have the proper tool to remove them as mine are all chewed up and scracthed!

I used the stock lug wrench, with the rubber tip, but there has to be something else than getting that out each time?

i usually use a large screwdriver with some electrical tape wrapped several times around the tip to protect the finish, thats seems to work pretty good. i remember in high school we had a tool for removing and re-installing hub caps it had a soft tip and a rawhide hammer built into it for knocking them back on. havent seen any in the stores lately tho.

The lug nut tool that is stored with the jack has a rubber/foam collar on it. That's what I use. The rubber/foam saves the rim from getting chipped.

Try a vacuum line rubber cap stretched over the tip of a screwdriver,works good. You can get a pack of them in assorted sizes for a couple of bucks at an auto parts store.
