Volant - I paid $279 with free shipping 2 yrs ago...bought mine from Jusnes Modified (site sponsor)
Maggie Muffler - under $100, and then about $100-200 for it to be welded in and the extra pipe ran for dual exhaust.
Maggie Exhaust Kit - I paid $479 for kit #16614 from Bob Jusnes with free shipping 2 yrs ago as well...that $739 is way overpriced
check out Jusnes them prices are still close to current.
anything auto (motohaven) has $20 off on any purchess (except edge) with the discount you can get the Volant with the oil less filter for 282.99 with free shipping and the edge is $399.19 with free next day shiping. think I going to get them both Has anybody tried the Volant exhaust? It is under $500 and is all stainless
I got my exhaust done locally for about $150. The guy used a single in dual out muffler, and I wanted it turned out in front of the passenger side tire(less pipe and looks cool), no tips or anything just two plain tail pipes(for now). I couldn't tell you the brand of the muffler, but it sounds awesome and deep like a big block, and the muffler still burbles kinda like a glass pack(which I like). With premium gas it will chirp the tires going into second gear, it never did that before the exhuast, so I am happy with it.
I have to admit though I may have lost just a little bit of low end torque, but it could be the fact that it revs more freely when the gas is pushed, but I'm still happy with it. I would get a Gryphon tuner, and CAI but I have to get some real tires before I do anything like that.
Just trying to show you don't have to spend $300 to $700 on some fancy cat back system to have a good exhaust. Not that cat back systems are bad, but there are other things besides those.

I have not had good luck with the muffler shops around here. all I want is a single side exit. I had a 97 and the stock pipe came out in front of the rear wheel like you did yours and the exhaust blowing back messed up the rims so I put on duels out the back on 45's and I had to keep taking it back , busted hangers. but I might just get a good muffler, and keep the stock tail pipe. But I have time to think about it. have to recover from the CAI, and edge I just ordered, and the winch for my polaris ranger. providing my wife doesn't kill me first
That sucks I have never had a problem with my local guy, but he is known for his good work, but he will only use his own stuff. If you bring your own tips or muffler he won't put it on.
Out of curiosity what kind of problems did your exhaust blowing on your rims cause?
the rim and bumper get a nasty brown/black look to them. and if you aren't real good at keeping it clean, it will stain the paint that color. My 98 was a khaki color and the bumper looked like a weird ****ty yellow brown.

mine was so bad, it made the crome flake off on the center cap, and the stain as well.
it's never too late to learn how to do it yourself
I went up in the mountains and overloaded my truck a few times with flagstone, granite boulders, and other various things for my yards. My truck is level now without a kit. Well, almost level. I've had people ask me where I got my leveling kit from.
