Hi all haven't posted in a while. Here's a new project that I would like to complete before xmas. My 2007 Lariat's steering wheel is getting a bit on the warn side. I've heard that a Navigator (leather/wood) steering wheel could be used to replace my old one. Is this true and what years should I be looking at. One more thing... where can I find one at a good price.
a steering wheel cover is one of the first things i bought for my truck. for your exact reason. steering wheels are quite spendy and a hassle to replace. my mossy oak cover was on sale at gi joes for like 12 bucks. granted its pretty worn, so i just flipped it over to the good side. much cheaper and easier to fix than a new steering wheel.
i got mine from ebay brand new for $65. its an 02 navigator wheel. i dont think that it will fit the 05+ trucks because they have a different spline count than the older trucks. direct replacement and you use your factory air bag.

Send me a PM on how you switched out your steering wheel. It's one of the projects I'm looking at.

That is awesome, could you please include me on the PM above, also, where did you search on ebay? If my truck only has wheel mount cruise control, will the stereo controls work as well, I've never checked out the wiring harness.
I don't have that steering wheel but the looks of it the wheel wood is leaps and bounds better than the SD wood trim. Ours is kinda like a crappy walnut print and that looks like a nice high varnish cherry wood.
If you could get matching inserts that would make the old interior gorgeous!

I'm ebay challenged. Anyone care to share a link with me on one of these steering wheels? My wife has an 01 F250 and really wants one of the wood / leather steering wheels.
If we go with the Navigator wheel, is there any way to use all the extra buttons? Clock springs interchangeable? The air bag and pulling the wheel is no problem.
I am just not sure there is a stock to stock interface available. If you run an aftermarket headunit, you should be able to use the steering wheel controls if you pick an adapter like one of these Products
sorry for not getting back. at the time i bought the wheel, i didn't really care about the other controlls. the ac controlls are non existant on mine since its an 01 and i have the manuall a/c. the radio controlls can only be had if i would have gotten the new clock spring and harness. even the cruise control was a rewiring mess. all of this could have been avoided if i would have spent a bit more time looking when i wanted to buy a new wheel. they are only an arms reach away. when i bought the wheel, i didnt know if it even fit. for that i want to my buddy at the ford dealer. he spent a ton of time comparing part #'s and we had to look up the steering column shaft on the navigator after we found what year that wheel was for. after that, we looked up the same on my 01, and found out that it was the same shaft. thats all that mattered. i do believe that the newer excursions and superduties have the same wiring as they are available with the auto a/c and radio controls. then, this would be a direct replacement.
