It wouldn`t take long to fill your truck up Sheldon, there`s tons of standing dead fall poplar bluffs here the right size for firewood with no splitting needed.
I`ll keep that in mind Sherm, it`s a dream of mine to extend the shop about 20/24 X 30 ft.

Which shop do you want to extend, the one with your 92 in it?

Yep, the main shop as I`d like to get a different set up, mainly for more room and also to replace the old bifold doors for a better seal.

Wow that shop would be huge! I thought it was a pretty decent size just as is!

I think its actually a perfect size, you can get a few projects in there, and ya shouldnt break the bank trying ot heat it!

The main point when adding on would be to make it fairly energy efficient to keep the heating costs down. It would be only around 1,600 sq ft. so not too overly huge to heat.

That shouldnt be hard, wide walls, lots of good insulation, and maybe radiant in floor lines that runoff of a wood boiler type system?

2 story is what you need Fom...not overly hard to do, eliminates the need for costly concrete work, and you don't have to totally heat all the space. a couple of small vents in the floor between the 2 levels will provide sufficient airflow and keep the frost away, while the bottom level where your work is being done is toasty and efficient.

I would imagine that it would take alot of work to make an upper floor able to withstand alot of weight, would it not?

Im guessing the extra space would be used for more then just a coffee room type area.

with a floor truss joist system, 12" OC and doubled 3/4 inch sheathing, it'd be plenty strong enough. i should figure out some time how that would compare to a ground level construction with concrete...

That would be interesting for sure, would be neat to see what all kinds of tools and stuff you could fit up there.

Would be kinda a pain going up and down all the time though haha.
