For bjafeman...

The peice you are showing in your photo is the "charcoal canister purge solenoid". One line goes to the canister, the other splits into a "Y" and goes to the top of your throttle body. This purges fuel vapor from the canister.
My inquiry is about the the unit on the injector fuel rail. I want to know what would be the symptoms if this was not working.

If your talking about the fuel pressure regulator, then youll get an O2 out of limits code if its bad. Test your line pressure at the schrader valve.

What are you getting at? Whats your engine doing or not doing? What codes are you getting?

Gotcha. Thanks for enlightening me. Best of luck with your mystery part. Sounds like a regulator.

Thanks guys. I have no codes at all. What I do have is a 4.9 in an E250, 3 speed auto, that drinks gas like I get it for free. Head, crank, lifters, pushrods, oil pump, Egr valve, O2 sensor, about 13k ago, new cap, rotor, distributor, wires, plugs, thermostat, temp sensor, Msd coil, all within the last 3 months. Timing is @12 degrees. I'm just reachin' here...bought "new" injectors off of Ebay when I replaced the head. I'm starting to wonder if they may be the wrong "poundage". Truck has always been dependable, but eats to the tune of 10 - 11 mpg, has no power at top end, tops out at 70 mph.

Stock fuel injectors are 14lb/hr (gray)

What about the catalytic converter, new(er)?

Fuel pressure

engine not running, pump engaged fuel psi should be:
50 to 60 psi

engine running, vac line attached to regulator:
45 to 60 psi

engine running, vac line removed from regulator:
pressure should increase 5 to 10 psi over above reading
