my 66 has the chrome trim that goes around the center line of the dash and the chrome trim that goes on the dash were it buts up to the window. my 65 does not have that. my ? is was this offered in 66 only since the 65 didnt have it. ive seen the custom cabs with it but not your regular F100.
I have both a 65 and 66, both have padded dashes, both have the same trim. Must be a padded dash thing. I would think that if you had a padded dash without that trim, it would look quite unfinished.
just looked at a couple of pics from the other ford web site of some custom cabs and they dint have pads in them. not saying there thats the way they came, im just not sure.
ALL trucks with padded dashes got these 3 pieces of trim...the rear piece is stainless btw...
There are trucks out there w/o the pads and with the trim though...I believe it to be a Custom Cab package piece though..
I have parted 61 66s with the trim and no dash pad. there are two sets of trim for the face of the dash as there are 2 differing dash pads that were produced.
There is the short front face pad for 65 66 trucks and a 3/4 inch lower face for the 61 to 64 dashes.
And the early trim verses later trim is shorter, not by much but it is shorter.

Padded dash finish mouldings: They cover the front/rear leading edges of the vinyl dash.
There are three moulding pieces 1964/66:
One short piece on the dash face left side: C4TZ8104333A
One long piece on the dash face right side: C4TZ8104332A
One long curved piece between the dash and the windshield weatherstrip: C1TB8104589A
If the trim is there, but not the padded dash, someone removed it.
For those of y'all that have the '64/72 truck parts catalog, look here: INTERIOR TRIM / ILLUSTRATION / Page 15.
Just Dashes in North Hollywood CA can restore old sagging, or ripped up padded dashes. But...be prepared, the going rate is 750 DOLLARS...and up!
About a week after I bought my 1965 F100 Standard Cab, I installed a padded dash and trim. This was in 1965, btw.
