I just did my hub seals today, and I wanted to thank camodown for the great writeup that I used for a reference. It went way faster than I thought it would. The only thing that sucked was trying to find the spindle nut. I finally found one at checkers for $24. I am very happy to be driving the truck truck again. I have been driving the wifes dodge so I have been depressed the past week. Thanks again.
I drove my wife '07 Escape while she was in San Francisco for job training and I was rebuilding my transmission. I sure missed not being in Big Red.
Changed right rear hub seal at around 80,000 miles. At 143k+, the other is still holding in there. It wasn't that bad of a job either. Worst part was finding a seal on the weekend. This was a few years ago and local parts houses didn't stock it and dealer was closed. I bought finally bought two and now keep one for a spare.
