I just went through this with my '77 to '94 F250s. I was going to try using the '77 mount and adapt it to the '94 but it was going to envolve a lot of fabricating. My plow is a Western 8' pro plow with the uni-mount system. After talking to the dealer, I decided to buy the bracket kit that mounts to the truck frame and get the ultra-mount adapter that allows you to hook a uni-mount to the ultra-mount bracket. The part that the plow pins to comes off with the plow so there is more ground clearance in the front when the plow is off. If in the future, you get an ultra-mount plow, you will already have the hook up on your truck. The frame brackets and adapter cost ~ $650 but well worth it in my opinion. Saved me a lot of time trying trying to make the other one work. Also, I think my truck will set high enough that I won't need the extra plow lights.
Frame is same between 87-96(97-98 F250/F350) I have a Meyers 8" on my F350 and I dont have to use the plow lights, I have 36's on stock suspension and its too high lol. Even up the truck lights are over the plow.
