Ford Towing Chevy

Sure am glad to see there are some die hard Ford fans whod proudly defend "our brand" . Remember that add in the mid 80'ies showing a 7.5l Ford towing a Dodge while carrying a Chavy on its back up a ruble mountain? They should do something like that with the Jap trucks.

The point nipperdog is that we hear about how GM is the way to go these days and it is a nice reassurance when we see something other than our Ford's being drug down the road.
On top of it, this is just funny. He has been a ford guy all these years and went to Chevy because of the rumors of their reliability. Never had any issues with a Ford, just wouldn't do the 6.0 liter. Now he has a truck with 60,000 on it, out of warranty, well maintained and it breaks down. he has never had this issue with previous ford's.

I just hope your 6.4 makes it there before the radiator cracks open or the Fuel system starts being pressurized durring the combustion cycle like 3 out of 25 new powerstrokes we have.
Lets face it every brand has issues. My only concern is that his 6.4 is the 6.0 all over again.

I had the radiator crack early on. Lets see Radiator vs. $6000 tranny at 60,000 miles. I will take the Radiator. Also, the 6.4 is a brand new platform Chevy had to work on getting the allison duramax setup to work right which they have done for the most part. To complain about a radiator on a truck being the only major issue and compare it to a tranny blowing up on a grandpas truck is just not a comparison.
The pressurization issue is new to me so I can't really talk about it intelligently. I have a good friend that has been a service writer for Ford here in WA and this is the first I have heard of it. Tell me more and what the result was or is this a minor repair issue too?

As far as the fuel system. Yes it is a major issue. Well, I'd tend to think so since ford few in two engineers (and one from intl) and replaced the entire fuel system from tank to injectors and took them back with them (on two of the three trucks, they will be back for the 3rd), they would not let us inspect them (no doubt they are trying to cover this up). all 3 trucks have UNDER 20K miles (one with 12K miles). They have all been maintained as per ford and the heaviest unit only weights 17,500 lbs, well under the 19,000 GVW max. We've also got a 4th unit that is consuming coolant with no signs of where it's going (i'd say head gasket leak into the combusion chamber). While I'm not a GM guy I'm not a huge diesel fan (keep in mind we've got over 250 F-250 to F-550 powerstroke 6.4s and 6.0s). We can't keep a dang 6.0 on the road to save our lives and I see the 6.4 quickly heading down that road. If we've got 3 down (about 6 % of our 6.4 fleet). We've got 30 more 6.4s on order but have switched to V-10s for the F-250 and F-350 pickup bed trucks due to down time concerns (note fuel economy is not a issue to us).

I simply stated that every make has problems. We have over 250 powerstrokes (25 to 30 Duramax 4500 and 5500s) in our fleet so I think I'm able to make comments like that.
