Well, I found my oil leak today....it was the flat gasket of the high pressure oil pump. I changed the gasket, installed new o-ring kit, and got it all back togeter just to find I have a injector line leaking now at the fuel filter housing. The rubber seal/packing tore during disassembly and I did not realize it until it started leaking after trying to restart the truck. The problem is that it was after 5 when I realized I needed the seal, and the dealership was closed. So then I started calling the parts store that stay open after 5 like Auto Zone, Oreilly's, Advanced, and none of them have them, nor do they even have a listing for them. Does anybody know where to get these other than the dealer on a weekend? Are these a dealer item only? Is it possible a implement dealer may have them? Any help would be appreciated.
Can you give a little better description of which line is leaking? On the fuel bowl assembly, you've got a fuel supply line (coming in), fuel return line through the FPR (fuel pressure regulator, fuel feed lines (one to each head) and a water drain valve. Any idea which one is leaking?
You can go to lowes, home depot or any hardware store and get what they got in the right size. Will need to change again when you get the Viton o ring but anything will get you going again.
Here's an O ring chart for you. 7.3L PowerStroke O'rings
It is the metal injector line on the rear of the right side of the fuel filter housing that is leaking. It is the steel line that attaches to the fuel bowl, then goes underneath to the drivers side front injector. The rubber sleeve is torn in that fitting where the nut tightens down to the line flare alowing the leak. It is not an o-ring, but the rubber sleeve. Is that also available at a Lowes or Home Depot to get me by until Monday until I can get to the dealer?
thanks mueckster....that is a good idea. That is the kind of help I was looking for. I hadn't thought of that. It only has to last until Monday morning
