Tire Size

I don't know a lot about the new super duty trucks but I was wondering if you guys could tell me what the biggest size tire will fit a stock 16" wheel 00' F-250 crew cab without rubbing? Does that size look best? What's the largest that will fit with minor rubbing? Does that look better? I'd try to search for the answer, as I bet this is a popular question but the search feature is down. Friend of mine wants to get bigger tires but keep the same wheels. Thanks.

Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .

Check out my Gallery for a look-see.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Jan-03 AT 03:57 PM (EST)]The largest I believe you could go would be 315/75r16's but you'll need to do minor fender trimming to avoid rubbing. With that, i'd say that you'll be fine if you go with 305/70r16's. As for the question of what looks the best, thats all up to you, its your rig, no one elses (some people think 4x4's look good lowered , but thats up to them )

The largest tire I could find was a 31.8" tire in BFG A/T's. If you stay w/ manufacturers specs. Tried to go bigger on last set but the dealer wouldn't warranty or install em. I think I've read other posts using up to 285's on the skinny ole 7" stock rim. I too am looking for an all around good combo. Been mulling this over and doing research for about a month or two. Would like to up it to a 35" tire and 16X10 ARE Baja rims w/o having to get a lift kit or at least the smallest possible. Kinda locked into these 3.73 gears. The best deal I've been able to find is a Fabtech 5.5" for $750 drop shipped and got a $300 quote locally for installation. But then I won't be able to go back to the stock tire size "and" I want an Auburn LS and hopefully a front locker installed this year. Jeeeez! What to do FIRST? Want to get some 35" BFG Mud or General Mud (is studded for snow) for winter and hunting. Want to use the ones I have on now for summer and fall. I can always lift it later but 35's might be close w/ these Xenon flares. Any suggestions and opinions are greatly appreciated!

I HAVE A 1999 F-250 REGULAR CAB SUPERDUTY WITH THE POWERSTROKE DIESEL. I FIRST ADDED 305/70R-16 GOODYEAR MUD TIRES ON 16X10 INCH RIMS. NO THERE WAS NO RUBBING WITH THESE TIRES EVEN WHEN THE SUSPENSION WAS AT FULL COMPRESSION. WHEN I REPLACED THESE TIRES I MOVED UP TO 315/75R-16 BUCKSHOT MAXXIS MUDDERS, THESE TIRES WOULD NOT FIT ON THE FRONT WITHOUT RUBBING SO I ADDED A 1.5 INCH TUFF COUNTRY ADD-A-LEAF. THE TIRES STILL RUBBED ON THE BACK OF THE WHEEL WELLS AND A LITTLE ON THE BUMPER SO I CUT THE BUMPER ABOUT AN INCH AND THE WHEEL WELLS ABOUT 3 INCHES OR SO(THE TIRES RUBBED WORSE IN THE LEFT WHEEL WELL) AND THE TIRES FIT FINE NOW WITH NO RUBBING.
