Hello everyone. I have an '02 F350 CC SB 7.3. Last week I replaced my dirty fuel filter. Today my truck won't start. It cranks, begins to start then stops, like it isn't getting fuel. Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be going on. Thanks in advance.
This is a 2 person procedure. Open the drain on the back of the filter housing an have someone crank it over. Lots of fuel = good pump and no clog. Not much fuel= either a clogged line somewhere or maybe a pump on the way out. If fuel flow is good maybe a cps going south. Just a couple easy, cheap things to start with.
Good advice^. Listen for the fuel pump. My pick up screen in my tank got clogged because I ran my tank really low, and so I had to remove the quick disconnect fitting on the back of the fuel pump and I forced air back to the tank. This cleared it up and has run good since...
Guys lets also keep in mind that this could still be a cold start issue. Maybe that should be ruled out as well.
If its cold where he is, and the glow plug relay is not working (or batteries not functioning properly), the truck will try to start and may even chug for a split second and quit again..
Got it started, It was 20 degrees this morning. I swithced trucks with my dad last night to load his horse trailer up for elk hunting, he had never started the truck before and didn't realize that it might take a couple seconds to turn over and run. There isn't a probem, but thanks for the advice and thoughts. Aaron
