Customer Satisfaction Program 08B07 On Hold For New Updating By Ford:
#46
I call Friday the 24th and they showed 3 recalls and the new flash was one of them, this morning I just dropped it off and the truck only showed 2 recalls and the new flash had been removed from the computer. The service writer was supprized it was removed that fast. Someone was working over the weekend to update the puter system.

And what of the trucks that did receive the update? My SA told me that they had trouble getting a computer to work and complete the upgrade. Our truck is going back to the dealer this week to give them a third (and final) chance to fix things, before we start trying new dealerships.
I have not noticed any problems (no new ones at least).

If I should receive info from FORD to reflash, I would have had my mail notated that it has been on hold for 30 days, as I travel frequently, and then make a decision. I deep down honestly believe that so many multiple flashes on my 2003 EXCURSION killed that ole gal, and a diesel it was, smoke and all, right up to and including the last breath of the death rattle. I didn't want a GREEN 2005 Ford F-350, but it got me involved, and now I LOVE my F-350 6.4. Like it says somewhere, you gotta pay to play...

Hey PSHD,
I received an urgent recall notice in the mail Friday - 10/24 from Ford, I called my dealership first thing Monday morning, after my truck started dumpping smoke on Saturday afternoon(regen @ idle), and they also told me the reflash was no longer available, I'm not sure about something more up to date in the works, but they have stopped the 08B07. I'm located in northern Oklahoma. I sure hope they do something.
Thanks for all your input, Chad.

From what I've been hearing it's not the flash it self that is trashing the modules but the software used to flash it. The IDS is to run on Xp machines and I wonder if the ones that are crashing are running Vista. When we do flash upgrades to our own equipment at work, we need to be careful that the flashing software doesn't lock up or we end up having to send the modules back to the supplier. If anyone is familiar with upgrading their BIOs on their home computers its the same thing. Lockups or power failures will trash the chip and you would need to send it back. If this is the true problem then Ford needs to hook up with Bill and make sure their dealers have xp, or fix the IDS soon.
