put in 203 thermostat - finally the gauge goes into the normal range

Installed the 203F thermostat from diesel site, Bob Riley very good to deal with, now the gauge finally moves. Got up to the r and m in normal, but takes these engines a long time to get heat built up in them. Should make winter better.

I would like to thank you guys for the advice and help. I also suggest when people do it, to have a short piece of hose to put over the drain hole to help direct the coolant into a bucket. I got soaked in it because it initially ran down the radiator core support and then onto me. Good thing it was cool.

Did mine last week along with new water pump. Mine goes up to the 'm' initially then back down to the 'r'. Had the old 195 stat in it and best I could get was the 'o' on the lie-o-meter.

Before I changed it, it would only get up the line to the left of n on normal. It does take a while to get up to temp because the first drive with it was about 12 miles that took about 25 minutes it only got up to the n. We went into the grocery store for at least and 1 1/2 hours and drove home and about 1/3 - 1/2 home it got up to the rm and stayed in that range. On my drive into work, it was about 30F, let it idle for about 10 minutes and drove to work, same trip as the shopping one, and was only around the n. When it starts to get colder and I know I will be taking it, I will need to plug it in.
