I been reading this and I gotta say I've been plowing snow with ford trucks for years now, used several model years as time has gone by. Have never bent the frame on one doing so. Now I don't plow like a mad man either but even then I don't see it bending anything.
First plow truck was a half ton at that, and yea, as time goes by everything is built cheaper. Never try with one of the new ones, be done in one season if it lasted that long.....

I did slide into the back of a suburban on the highway on a angle back a few years ago, drivers side corner first into it. Crushed the back of the suburban to the point the doors where pushed way in and jammed. But only slightly damaged the plow on my 87. Pushed the blades end back into the bumper and bent it a little, but still no frame damage whatsoever.
The damage to the suburban would have been much worse but I carry the blade real low when running the highway for good air flow to the truck, so I got plenty of frame with it instead of just all body.

Only thing I see is the front end of the F-250's are getting weaker, older models caried the weight of a snow plow with no need to be beefed up, not the case anymore. Next truck will have to be a F-350 to hopefully avoid that problem. And to get away from the TTB front axle. I'm done with that, if buying a newer ford means another TTB I have to move to another manufacture I guess. Want to? no but.....
