i finally got around to resealing my transfer case. i split the case and i can't get it all the way apart. i also can't get it to go back together... im thinking that something is not lineing up in there. its a 1356 transfercase if that helps... im out of ideas... i know someone out knows the secret????
Ive had my 1356 apart several times and have no problems getting it back together. You should post a picture so we know whats binding. If it comes down to it, I have one on my back porch that I can take apart again so that I remember how it goes together. I do know that the main shaft has to be lined up perfectly or it will bind and not come apart.
On a side note, what all have you taken apart when disasembing the case? Have you removed the tailshaft and clips on the back of the case? This is what stump me the first time I had mine apart.
thanks alot i got it figured out. i didn't know i had to take that snap ring off the tail shaft but once i found the snap ring pliars it was a breeze but today it on to the ball joints... that should be a good time...when i get stuck ill be back
