o, i liked that truck. what did you end up seeing out of it if you dont mind my asking? all my posts mean that i'm full of bull----. lol. how many of your posts do you attribute to this pro? jk. no need to answer that. what are you basing your trail rig on? is it a fomoco product?
but he can build and would rather build than sit on my butt and play on the internet...
We'd rather you went and built something then play on the internet. Congrats on the engine swap and axle swap . . . you're the king of the world. However I think anyone with an engine larger than a 351 is making up for a lack somewhere else. How about for the next project you swap in an auto tranny so you aren't burning up 3 clutches in a year. That shouldn't be happening if you know how to drive a stick "incase you had your head up somewhere". The rest of the build looks pretty nice though! Post some pictures in your gallery if you get a chance.
what are you all talking about lack of something else? if your talking about beer i got plenty of that. lol. sounds like muddy is building a perfect mall cruiser, even though hes like 10 steps ahead of me and i have no room to talk, lol. forget that caffien stuff. all the people i work with go for the hard core stuff that has lots of ephedra, at least they did when it was legal. o well.
THAT was funny! Muddy, take it easy and don't get so pizzled my nizzle. We have a good amount of fun in the offroad forum and sometimes even post some useful information (not near as much of the latter).
i dont know about you, but i have no attitude problem. you can ask the nuns about that one. im a polite, well mannered young man. everyone dislikes me cuz theyre jealous they cant be like me, not that i have attitude or anything. wow thats a load.
Ivan - yeah yer right. I burned up 3 clutches cause they were cheap aftermarket parts that I think I put in a little wrong. Pullin a horse trailer 40,000 miles in one year didn't help neither. This last clutch has lasted me almost 2.5 years and still feels good. It kinda seems to me like autos are for people who can't drive standards. I don't like those funny auto transmissions, but I never had one so I guess I cant judge them. My '96 F250 gots the 351 in it (love that engine), and you do make a good point about the 460. The only "lack of size" I'm makin up for is my lack of wallet size cause gas is still @ 2 bucks and neither of my trucks does better than 13 mpg. You guys are absolutely nuts. 75 - I aint sure what you tryin to do callin my truck a mall cruiser, but jeez man don't do it again. I don't think I ever been to a real mall. Yes, Im an arrogant and ignorant punk kid. Careless and hard headed as you get...nice to meet you. Pro - there's worse things to do than dick around on the internet, believe me. I'm goin to bed before I pass out or have a sudden urge to go to the store for more beer.

OR they might be for people who are serious about offroading and enjoy the versatility of an auto and the advantages of a torque converter. Then again it could just be coincidence that all but 1 of this year's TTC competitors ran an auto (the guy who ran a stick came in 2nd from last). If you've never driven an auto offroad you really should. There's a reason that the big dawgs swap them in. I'm sure Pro will have a comment about it too but he's running enough HP to fry an auto so that's a whole different story. For that matter all monster trucks are running autos too but at 1500+ HP they're rebuilding them every few months as well.
Ok I have a comment running bigger than 351 engine has to do with the size of my right foot, and not because it's too small, gotta quit breakin stuff in the engine, and start breaking driveline parts instead, it's cheaper.

i run an auto in my play truck and i will whoop you any time/any place with it. my tow rig and my bronco both have sticks....does that mean i can't drive a stick?

Well, although I yanked my auto in leiu for a stick I'm certainly not going to start slamming autos. I'll probably put one in my trail rig. In most cases in the off-road world, be it monster trucks to trail rigs to mud drags, a tricked out auto is the hot ticket. I simply would have had to put ALLOT of money into my auto to make it live in my '73, and even then would have had to rebuilt it every other year. I like how much more basic and bullet proof a simple gearbox like a np-435 is. That, and I just like the free horsepower and banging through my own gears
I would have to say that I favor auto myself. The thing is that you can not even compare the reliability of the older autos with the newer ones. The new autos sitting behind high torque diesels are an example of that. working with a contractor I know that he would not even think about an auto for things like plowing and towing in his big diesels but he has come around and found the newer autos can handle the abuse like never before. it is more or less personal preference with the new equipment.
