Power steering hose

So on my drive home last night my power steering started to act up. I pull off and start to add some fluid as the system has been known to leak well I get about half a bottle in the pump when all of a sudden fluid starts to come spitting out of the line from the pump to the steering box….

So to say the lest the drive home was fun with no power steering

Anyways I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what lines or where to buy. I am sure there are many different styles and places to buy just wondering if there is a style or maker that is better then the rest. I have rubber hoses now.

Thank you.

1970 F350 2WD, with a 460 in it.

Engine swapped...so...

What type of power steering pump does your truck have?

Is the reservoir steel or plastic?

Ford changed all the P/S pumps in 1978 on everything.

The plastic reservoir type was first used in 1978 and the pressure hoses from the 1977 and earlier P/S pump with the steel reservoir will not fit this 1978 and later pump.

The 1978 and later P/S pressure hose has a straight tube on the pump end with an O-Ring on it. Slide that puppy into the female fitting on the pump, then tighten up the nut.

The 1977 and earlier pressure hoses do not have a straight tube or an O-Ring.

And you can't swap fittings, cuz the earlier fitting is a different size than the later one (Ford thought of everything-there's nothing liked planned obsolescense!)

Not only is the pump different in 1978 (and later), the mounting brackets are also different as is the dipstick.

The earlier dipstick is steel, and has a "shepards" crook in the handle.

The 1978 and later pump uses a plastic dipstick that is also wider.

When you tell me what pump you have, I'll find out what P/S hose was used, and if anyone has an original FoMoCo hose.

it is steel, and so is the dipstick, the dip stick is straight and then at the end (outside the pump) curves over on its self.

here is a pic, not a good one but one i have.

the pump is down at the bottom left of the pic (if you cant find it)

1970/72 F100/350 P/S Hoses

1970/72 F100/350 360/390

C9TZ3A713G .. P/S Return Hose-From Gear to P/S Cooler

Green Sales Co. in Cincinnati OH has THREE = 800-543-4959

McDonalds Obsolete Parts in Rockport IN has ONE = 812-359-4965
----------------------------------------------------------------
DOTZ3A719A .. P/S Pressure Hose

Green Sales has TWO.

Miller Obsolete Parts in Binghamton NY has ONE = 800-359-4965

Wesley Obsolete Parts in Liberty KY has ONE = 606-787-5293

That's it, no Ford dealer has any, no other obsolete parts seller has any.

There's also a length of 3/8" P/S (return) hose from the cooler to the pump. This hose can be bought at any parts store.

Repopped?

Do you think I'd type (made in China) repop crap without saying so?

These are Gen-U-Ine Ford originals, kiddo.

There's nothing wrong with originals.

These hoses came with a protective coating on them from the factory.

Just like all the weatherstripping and other rubber goods did.

I've used NOS P/S hoses that are twice your age on my 1963 Galaxies.

Go buy a made in China crap P/S hose from BlottoZone...see how long it lasts!
