Hey guys, I have a 62 uni I just got a few weeks ago, I will post pics. I was approached by a production company that does a car and truck show. It is more of a local show and local following but they do have a few big area sponsors. I have the opertunity to get my truck done at between 15%-20% of the cost of parts and no labor cost. I have a few ideas but what would you guys do. I like the retro look of my truck it is the white and teal green. It already has an old 351 and c6 but they need attention. Here are 2 ways I am thinking about.
Both include;
-full rust removal, painted factory colors, new glass, weather stripped, re-wired totally, seat, guages, panel, swithes, emblems, new tank out of cab.
Now I dont know what way to go, here is what I am thinking.
1.
Fatman rolling chasis with air ride with power brakes and steering and disks all around, crate efi 460, new c6, 18 or 20 inch wheels, nice stereo.
2.
Mustang 2 clip to get power brakes and steering, new rear end and suspension peices, crate efi 302, rebuild my c6, 16 or 17 inch wheels. moderate stereo.
3.
mustang 2 clip to get power brakes and steering, stock rear, rebuild my motor, rebuild my c6, 15 or 16 inch wheels, basic stereo.
What do you guys think or what would you do? I know in the end it is up to me and my wallet, but to you guys that have a finished truck, what would you have done different or what did you really want to do?
Man if I was given that opportunity; I would tell them to surprise me. I like option # 1 like Pickupman mention though.
Looking forward to hearing and hopefully seeing some more about this chance of a life time.
If it sounds too good to be true it is....Unless you are a mag editor and the shops are looking for page value. And even then its too good to be true.
No one does things for free, and you are getting the labor for free, Which is the most costly item of any build....and getting 80 percent off on parts?
I have stock in ENRON if you want a really smokin' deal....
I'm thinking option 3 with a rockin sound system only do it yourself It's more fun that way and there's the whole pride thing. I gotta agree with Garbz on this.
