I am trying to decide between a 2002, 5.4L, 4x4 supercrew with 101,000 miles or a 2006 F150 extended cab, 6.5ft bed 4x4 with a 4.6L, 64,000 miles. other than that pretty much the same as far as other ammenities. I do some pulling nothing heavy and I am begining to be leary of the 5.4L. I have a 95 with a 300 for any heavy pulling. This truck will be primarily a kid hauler and maybe some hunting trips. The asking price on the 06 is 14,000 and on the 02 is 12000 so not much difference. Any help would be appreciated.

02 truck is overpriced by about $5,000
06 truck is overpriced by about $2,000
the 97-03 4.6/5.4/v-10 like to eject spark plugs
the 04+ 4.6 has been fixed to stop doing that
I wouldn't touch that 02 truck with a ten ft pole. not unless you could pick it up for under $9,000. even then I would be very distrustful of it
grab the 06 truck. the 06's and newer have had all the kinks worked out and are great trucks. the 4.6 will do the job...just not fast, or confidently
I agree, I wouldn't touch the '02 and the '06 is overpriced. Though a 5.4 would give you more power. What is it you're leary about? I've got 46000 on my 5.4 '05. It's been a great truck.
Lots of better buys out there. You might check the Trader.
You should be able to find a 5.4L in a 06 for about the same price and the gas mileage you will get in a 4.6 is not that much better given the same cab and bed. (only 1 or 2 mpgs better)
