I just bought a 97 f150 that has a poped ignition. I got a new one from auto zone and put it in and it don't work. When you turn the key to start nothing happens the key don;t even spring back. I get no dash lights. They have 2 model switches and tried both with same results. Can anyone help?

 

Sounds like either the linkage between the tumbler (where the key is inserted) and the actual ignition switch has a problem or the ignition switch itself is bad.
The tumbler where you insert the key moves a linkage that runs down the steering column to the ignition switch, I would check the connector on the switch first.
