Hello all, I am in need of some expertise, I have a 20002 X v-10 and I am looking for the TACH wire location, as i need this wire to be able to install a remote start.
Dang Boi I came across this post a bit late as it is already dark and it is difficult to see under the hood. But I went out and took a look at my '01 E-350 van with the V-10 and my tach is hooked up to a white/pink stripe wire. It had a tag on it, when I installed the tach, that had something about it being a clear tach signal wire. CTS or something like that. It is in the main harness coming up the firewall and "Teeing" across the top of the engine compartment.
cool, i will take a look in the morning, the alarm ( codealarm CA610) says i can program it without a tach being hooked up, so if i don't find the white/pink wire i will use the no tach option, i just hope that i dont need anything else or have to bypass this or that to be able to start the truck from the remote.
I can't tell you for sure on the gas trucks. However, on the diesel it is light green above the parking brake. It will be a bare wire taped to the main harness with several more wires with shrink wrap on the ends.
I believe what they mean by a clear tack signal is one that has all the coil packs combined. For example, in a v-10 each individual tach wire will only read one tenth the ac voltage of a combined signal.
Heck, I found a wire that was the same color, but when i test the wire it don't increase in voltage as i tap the gas, so now i'm kinda PO'd , I cannot seem to program the alarm ( CA610) to work without the tach signal, following the instruction is like brain surgery, i'll have to wait till monday to call tech service to see what they can do for me.
For tach go to any one of the ignition coils and use the wire that is NOT red/lt. green. On diesel vehicles the tach wire is green or white, in a 42 pin plug under the clamp on the engine side of the air intake duct.
This is off of DEI's techservices website. I sell Code Alarm at both of my stores it will learn an individual coil tach signal. However, you shouldn't have any problems on that vehicle using it tachless. Make sure you have it set for tachless in the programming and make sure you have the neutral safety wire grounded.</SPAN>
Yes I finally looked at mine... When facing the truck under the hood its the 2nd COP from the front on the left side of the truck, the Red w/green stripe... I Tried 2 others and this one was the only one that work with I installed it if I can remember right but its definitely that one.
BCAUTOSOUND,
I will try those wires tomorrow when i get the chance, Also you state that you sell code alarms, I am trying to program that "thing"CA 610 with difficulties,if i can program it to accept no tach signal, i'll be great. i can lock/unlock arm/disarm, but everytime i push the start/run button(2 times) my park lights just flash( 7/8 times) and the truck laughs at me, but no start, what am i doing wrong
If you hear the clicking just after the lights flash then I believe the alarm is trying to start the engine... if the dash doesn't light up you should check your ignition connection and the wire to the accessory.
