Just spoke with tech service and the alarm system i have will need to have the tach wire hooked up, yeah he said to go straight off the neg side of the injector
The techs at code are idiots. That unit works perfect without a tach. However, make sure you have the control switch plugged in and turned on. I usually remove the switch and just connect the two wires on the switch together. I believe 7 flashes on that unit is the control switch. However, that hasn't been a current model in a couple years so I can't remember for sure.
UPDATE!! I hooked the required wire up to the coil as recommended, great, i was so happy, but I forgot or seem to not remember that i have a PATS system on my truck, so the truck wants to start, dash lights up, but due to the PATS, it won't any suggestion before i go out and buy a PATS bypass???
The most streight forward bypass for an excursion would be a 555f from DEI if you can find one. The other bypasses that require one to hook into the tx and rx wires from the pats ring are not for beginners. Another option is to order an extra key from Howard Keys and use a universal module. You just program the key to the truck and put it inside the part. All of these options besides the databus module require two keys to program.
just ordered the 555F, my question though is how does this work with my aftermarket alarm (codealarm 610), better yet how does it know when i'm trying to start the truck?
It will have two wires coming out of the bypass. One will be read and go to constant power. The other will be blue and go to the blue with black on the ca-610. This wire has ground only when the vehicle is remote started. The 555f will then have another cable that comes out with a pellett on the end. You will mount this pellet behind the steering shrould as close to the front of the encoder ring on the ignition switch as possible. After installation you will turn the first key on until the security light goes off. Then insert the second key until the security light turns off. Followed by remote starting the vehile. This three step operation will teach the PCM in the vehicle the new key code generated by the 555f.
SWEEEEEEET, That sounds easy enough, heck i did install the alarm, a carputer, a stereo with XM, yeah i think i can handle this one, but rest assure , if i run into any problems, i am looking you up. thanks again and i will post the results of my adventures
BCAUTOSOUND,
Update, just received the PATS bypass module, but it's the 555PW, not the 555F, any idea on how to hook this puppy up? i have the directions, but it's wanting me to tap into this/that. i was looking for something alot more simple.
the instruction for the 555P:
RED- constant +12
BLACK- ground
BLUE-(-) remote start input
GREEN- not used
YELLOW/BLACK- immoblizer data cap - tap immoblizer pin 3
YELLOW- not used
BROWN- immoblizer sync cap- tap immoblizer pin 4
PINK- ignition car side- cut
PINK/WHITE- ignition key side- cut
ORANGE- not used
this is all the info i received with the 555p, any help with this one, it's getting cold now and want to be able to start the truck from inside the house

Reason: update
Your probably in over your head. That part is a piece to begin with. I would throw it away and get a 555f from ebay. They are less than $20. If you really want to try to use that unit I will try to talk you through it. However, you should know you are messing with wires that if you screw up the repair bill will be in the 1000's of dollars.
If you want to try to use that peice go to Upgradeable Vehicle Interface Kit - www.xpressdownload.com, then click on istall guides, then pick xk04, then pick pkford3.0 file, scroll to third page od directions and look at connector A. This will give you a pin layout of the pats harness coming down the colum. This plug will be to the right of the colum held to a metal plate with a clip. When this pin layout says tx they mean the same thing as what your part calls immobilizer sync cap.
update, the 555f came in today and was very easy to install, programmed all the keys and BIG BOI is up and running with the touch of a button, I would like to thank all that replied, and an extra thanks to BCAUTOSOUND for that little extra help
Its amazing how companies can make things harder by trying to make them easier. Believe it or not the 555f was replaced by the 555p. Which one looks easier to you?
