Flowmaster 40 on mine. Its extended all the way out to the rear so its not as loud if it was ran out the side of the rear wheels. I just cut off the rear tail pipe to make room for double shocks. It is noticeably louder now.
I will be replacing the rear tail pipe soon and muffler with a Flowmaster Super 44.

The 44 series is what I have. It is designed really well and has a deep agreesive tone to it. I like it a lot better than the 40 series I had.

Flowmatser all the way.

6cylinderbill, How did you run the pipe. Is it all the way out the rear or out the side?
I want to run mine out the side up high in front of the rear tire. Some guys from the Full Size Bronco web page have theres run like that only out the fender sheet metal.
I figure I can cut a hole in the sheet metal but can the pipe be run from the muffler under the frame and back up and out the fender?

Man, I want to yell and scream and tell you not to do that. Let me urge you to NOT cut into your truck to run a side pipe. Here's why; It's going to be SO loud you won't be able to talk to anyone in your truck at certain engine speeds. Over time this will become annoying and you'll want to run more pipe. Then you're left with a big hole in the side of your truck.

I have a 300, which are known for being QUIET. It is simply a quiet motor. Mine is so loud with the side piping it's downright stupid inside the cab. I don't mind it, but it WILL give you a bad headache if you keep it at those engine speeds that resonate inside the cab.

Here's mine; YouTube - 94 F150 FlareSide Walk Around

A 44 would sound 10X better on a V8. I love it personally. FM may be expensive, but it's built right.

Oh, an odd note; My 40 series FM's black paint never came off but my 44's already ebbing away. Is this because I no longer have a cat and the heat is so much that it's already eating the paint? I don't care but I did find this interesting.

I guess my age is showing.

I like my 40 series. Quiet at idle, but some attitude when you put your foot into it.

My tires alone are so loud at 70 that I can't hear radio or phone with the windows up. What a headache I would have with that Flowmaster 44 series

And this is a pick up. I can't imagine that system in a vehicle that has a cavernous echo chamber such as a Bronco.

look into the hooker aerochamber. sounds way better then the flowmaster products and doesnt resonate in the cab like the flowmasters do. i am running this with a single 3" exhaust and this setup is cheaper and outperforms duals on our rigs.

search for that muffler on fullsizebronco.com there are a bunch of sound /video clips

Oh that's quite alright! I really don't care if you like it or not. I did it for me. I love it. The louder the better! When I stomp on it it really grabs people's attention. It's nice at 60 MPH which is as fast as I go on the highway. You can hear the pistons slapping but it doesn't resonate. The same goes for 30 MPH which is what I go in town. It's perfect for me.

Flowmaster all the way!

Yes I have to agree on your recomendations about the side exit out the sheet metal!
So I think I will still go with the Super 44 but run all the way out the rear. I like that classic Flowmaster sound!
If every thing works out I may put a Supper 44 on my V-10 Superduty!

DO NOT RUN BRONCO EXHAUST OUT THE REAR OF THE TRUCK!

I mean, if you intend to keep the rear glass up all the time, then fine but if you are like the rest of us that extra breeze on nice days is good to have. If you really want the dull throbbing headaches associated with carbon-monoxide inhalation, go right ahead. There is a good reason the OEM exhaust is side-exit.

I like to keep the rear window up and the AC on. The window down is nice except on a dusty road.
I found the side exits get pretty banged up when offroad so mine exist up high out the rear next to the gas tank. The skid palte on the gas tank will bottom out before the tail pipe.

i used to have an 88, it had the 4.9 6cyl and 4speed.

one day the exhuast popped off after the cat when my sis was borrowing it. i put it back on, clamped it down.

a couple week later the skid plate bolts busted so i took it off. later that week i was racing a buddy from his house to mine, about 3.5 miles on gravel then 1 mile on black top. when i was leaving his drive he took the shorter way because he was in front of me. I gunned it the other way when i was at about 3500 in 3rd the exhaust popped off in the same place, i said f*** it. kept it pinned, beat him to my house and started to cut off the exhaust.

it was not too bad at idle, in fact it sounded stock idling except when it was cold out. then it was a little louder.

as soon as you touch the skinny pedal it would blow your ears off if you were out side of the cab. i drove it for about 9 months without an exhaust. never really got into trouble for noise, but then again i live in kansas where no one really complains about others

I have 2 Broncos, a '78 and a' 79. Both have 351Ms. One has headers and cheap turbos and exits behind the back tires, down and toward the rear. The other has stock manifolds, similar turbos and exits to the side in front of the rear tires. I like the headers/rear exits better. It sounds deep and throaty but not harsh. The other sounds a little obnoxious.
