While doing some looking up on here i decided that when i update my ignition latter on this month im going the big distributor route. Ive got a couple of questions i couldnt find asked. This is for a 1975 ford f150 ranger 390fe electronic ignition i believe.
I figured id go MSD Cap and rotor with either an Champion or Motorcraft Plug
Either MSD, Taylor, Ford Raceing, Or Petronix wire set.
My questions are,
On the writeup they say use the 8.5mm wireset from a mustang but i was curious if you could go with a 8.0 or 9.0mm set as well.
I figured id replace the Coil as well but looking up in summit they didnt give me many options so i was wondering what type of coils you guys were running and if you can recomend me come combos you have done and have worked well.
Also when you update this ignition what does the gap in the plugs change to.
And finally i dont think we have mustangs to scrounge through in the junkyard that stuff gets picked off pretty quickly. Can you pick up that spacer new in the parts store.
Thanks
Ben

drfelgood5, You can spend your money anyway that you want to, but you said that you already have electronic ign.
IMHO The base line wires made today work nicely, and your spark is hot enough already. I have run hi performance wires and replaced them with baseline ones and couldn't tell any difference. Swapped dist. without notice.
If you are running a big race motor where everything counts then go for it, but for everyday driving, I say save the money for the gas tank.
