Missing the Lope.

Winter is here and Ive parked my 64 for the winter and am starting to miss the lope of the idle and such. For all of you in a climate better suited for nice cars I say your lucky! you can drive your toys year round.
Just remember us six month snow farmers next time you let the old Y bark at a SBC.

Be nice to your engine in winter and provide a constant heat source like a heat lamp, if it is not in a controlled temperature. It will help prevent problems from condensation.

I still have the top end off mine, and there is a heat lamp under it 24 hours a day.

Sorry to here that. Not just that you can't drive it anymore, but that weather is creeping my way too. I'm hoping to be able to drive mine for another month, wishfully two. When the city lays down salt is what stops mine. But I use that down time to work on it. This year its a little motor work and I have a different bed to fit on it.

I drove it last winter and it ran great........
Just dont want to do any more damage to an old beaut. Hoped to strip and repair the few bad spots but no overtime means no parts money. Cruddy economy. just missing the sound and feel of the old girl. A few moments listing to some of murmmets toys on youtube helped. Keep the old iron movin.

Count the 20 plus year old trucks in town still running. around here ford is about 5 to 1.

sounds like a second hobby is needed, or kids..... I have both snowmobiling and 5 and 7 year old girls who like to ride in dad's old trucks with the bouncy seats!

Well, for me it's just looking at the truck in a fine and dry garage.
Living in the Netherlands it's from october till end of februari rain or freezing and worst of all salt on the road. My truck has no body protection, so the salt and water won't do any good. Last time a drove was october, and dicieded to start with a total resto.

Mine started everyday last winter. She loved her block heater though.
Started her one night at work it was -28F. Points and all! She ran good, though a 55 mi drive @-28 in that poorly sealed cab is a challenge of will not *****.

my truck hates and loves the winter time... it sometimes takes it awhile to turn over... but same time i play russian roulette with it cuz ill find it almost dead sometimes when i go out.. (even with the new batt)... to which is why it hates the winter... but same time it loves it because it runs a heck of alot cooler in the winter... gauge stays down between 160-190.. where during the summer it will nearly peg that temp gauge anytime i stop... so most summers it sits the whole time less i have to take it out... partly cuz the A/C doesnt work in it...

so i know how ya feel man... i love to drive my truck cuz its old school bouncy... and i miss that when im not driving.. but same time i love my stang cuz it takes off alot faster

I dont know what year truck you have Sparky, but there was a rebuilt reconditioned AC compressor on ebay that just ended without selling. I think the buy it now price was 90.00, and it was for a 62-64 truck with 292, as well as other years and engines.

probably ran the V-belt then... mines got LLT warreny on it.. but my problems not in the compressor.. (least i dont think it is).. i think its somewhere in the rest of the system... more specifically the evaporator.. just dont have the $$ right now to replace the system to find the problem...
