I wanted to raise my truck up enough for 38s before. But now i want to go with just 35 inch Super Swampers should i go with a 3 inch body lift,6.5 suspension Super lift kit, or the 4inch suspension lift from Super Lift. I want room left in the wheel wells i dont want the tires right in the fender. I want to go with 400 or 425hp and 475 or 500 tq can i run with just leaf springs and torsion bars or in the back should i go with leaf springs and ladder bars?
I have a 78 with a old (like 5 years) Rancho 3" lift, and it clears my 35" tires (33" actual diameter), but doesn't sit too high. Tires don't rub at all, though, and I have good flex.
Swampers are usually the exact size of tire stamped on the sidewall, so it is actually 35" in diameter. You will probably need the 6.5" Superlift kit. This by itself should work.
As to axle wrap, my axle jumps like mad when I'm on it in 1st, and I have about 350hp out of my 400ci engine. I have blocks, though. My actual ideal scenario for the rear springs would be to flip the rear shackle hangers for a 4" lift with stock springs, and get 2" rear springs. This way they aren't too arched for flexing, but you still get the lift. The ladder bars are still going to be necessary, though.
I too am planning on getting some bigger tires and adding a 6" Superlift sonn, because my tires are starting to show some wear. But first I have to regear the truck, since it has 3.5 ratios now. I want 4.10's before I go to 38" tires.

go for it. 6.5 is what you want.i installed the verry same kit on a 79 bronco and it turned out great! we mounted 38's (swamper's)and nothing rub's.try to avoid body lift's as they tend to wear on our "old" sheet metal. Groundhawg
