05 6.0 multiple turbo issues

Have on 05 6.0 with 60,000. miles. cannot keep engine running. Have had turbo issues since day one, have had turbo replaced, serviced, cleaned at least 10 times, probably more if dealer has been straight with me. Have been broken down and towed 3 times. Lack of power, no start, no boost.
Injector module replaced, FICM done, leak down done, many other components changed, no change. Got truck back today after 2 week service in which dealer said truck was fixed 3 times only to test drive truck with similiar problems and returned to dealer, lack of boost at 60 miles an hour. Don't feel safe driving truck on highway as merging into trafic could be deadly.
What are my options. I have 5 ford trucks, no loyalty . DEALER ADMITS FORD HAS A PROBLEM BUT WILL ONLY KEEP SERVICING ENGINE UNTIL WARRANTY IS UP. Dealer offered me a DEAL on a new gas 250 regular cab with my trade for $11000, an insult in my opinion considering the problems I have.. I have a 6.0 550 04 with no problems at 30000 miles?
Only use this truck as my drive around, no towing or heavy hauling.
Oil change every 5000 miles(shell rotella) fuel filters at oil change.
Any help would be appreciated. Any one from ford on this site that can help me please contact me at lomb4@***.net Dealer says ford is trying to make this problem go away by itself as it is costing them a fortune. Will not buy a ford again after 25 years of loyalty.

are you just trying to get Ford to take care/pay for this (understandable if under warranty) or are you open to purchasing an after market turbo that could solve the problem.

if you are look into a NON-VGT turbo but make sure theres not underlying issues that are causing the turbos to go bad.

Sorry to hear about your problems, wish I had an answer that helps.

I do find this comment interesting..

"Only use this truck as my drive around, no towing or heavy hauling."

In the short time I have been here it I have noticed a pattern with 6.0s with Turbo and injector problems that seem to fall into this catagory.

I guess the comments I hear on this Forum about using the 6.0 hard seems to be gaining ground in my head.

Mine is on its 3rd turbo in 21k. At least half of those miles are pulling some kind of trailer. So it has not been overly babied.

Are you guys doing a lot of short trip driving? I went through some turbos and figured out it was my daily short trips causing the turbo to rust. I don't do short trips anymore and don't have turbo issues anymore.

My honest and best advise would be to see if you could runt he truck on a dyno for a couple of hours at full or near full rated HP. The less the diesel engine works, for a long period of time the more problems you are going to have. If you cant find a dyno for a couple hours find the heaviest trailer you can find, along with the longest hill, and dont let off the throttle. Heat it up, work it hard.

I live 25 miles from anything. When I turn the key it goes at least that far every time.

This sounds like a good path to excessive EGTs to me. I know these things need run firmly, but there is a line between hard and abusive!

I disagree with the short trip theory myself, although it could be because I usually work it even on the shorter trips but I've never had a turbo problem and often I'll only drive my truck a total of 5 miles a day 2 ways.

Actually no, I have 265,000 on my 04, I have installed 4 injectors and one egr valve, The engine needs to work hard and burn out any excess krap. The worst thing in the world for a diesel is not not let it run at angine temp and not load it up once in a while. If you baby it, you will have problems.

I have no problems with my 6.0 in the summer when temps are warmer and I do alot of towing. In the winter when temps drop, and I do not tow at all is when I have problems with my turbo sticking. I run it out on the highway when I can, and floor oftern to keep the turbo from gumming up too bad, Once spring returns my problems go away.

I have an 09 on order now and I am hoping that the dual turbo setup with fixed veins will solve the cold temp problems I have with the 6.0. My thoughts now are what new problems will I have. Sort of a case of the devil you know vs. the devil you don't.
